Renewable resources can be used to produce biodegradable polymers using various microorganisms. In order to intensify the production processes for biopolymers, novel and competitive reactor concepts such as biofilm reactors can be developed. Such a development requires strong basic scientific research, for which we strive to develop powerful mathematical models.
